Meine Reisen.

My Trips.

My Trip in fall 2019 to Western Canada, my outstanding excursion into the Arctic 2017 and 2007, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, ind March and December 2018, 2021, 2022, in April-May 2023, in January and June 2024 and 2025 to different countries in Southern Africa left their powerful impressions and experiences. Especially to explore very close on my own by 4x4 in different regions in partly inaccessible areas in Africa, gave me many memorable adventures, fantastic surprises and exciting situations that have become deeply burned into my memories.

On my website I present all facets of my visited countries, a selection of my pictures of the indescribably beautiful landscapes, peoples and cultures, the unfathomable distances and the unique wildlife.

Steckbrief.

Schweizer, ende 50iger, verheiratet, 2 Kinder, wohnhaft Umgebung Zürich. Beruf Touristiker seit 41 Jahren. Geboren 1967 in Sierra Leone, Freetown, Afrika.

Profile.

Swiss, in my late 50s, married with two children, living in the greater Zurich area. By profession, I have worked in tourism for 41 years. I was born in 1967 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Africa. This means Africa is truly in my blood, so it is hardly surprising that I am completely addicted to Africa. In the early 1990s, I spent several months travelling through southern Africa (Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe). I initially focused on filming; photography only became a serious pursuit during another trip to Africa in 2007 with a Canon 350D, followed by a 500D in 2010. Over the years, the Canon 60D, 70D, 5D Mark II/IV, 7D Mark II, 1DX, R5, and R3 have accompanied me on numerous photographic journeys. Today, in everyday use, I am currently inspired by the R5 II and, most recently, the R1. I enjoy exploring all facets of photography—simply because it’s fun. Image editing has become an essential part of the process, and since I shoot in RAW and develop digitally, I process my images in Lightroom, always striving to keep alterations to the image itself to an absolute minimum.

Idyll im Sonnenuntergang

Idea: In the glow of the setting sun, the rhino stands calmly as if it simply wants to complete the landscape scene.

Composition: Despite the cramped space inside the vehicle, the photographer managed to position himself so that the rhino appears fully in front of the landscape, with the tree not blocking the sun. The colors transition beautifully from green to deep red.

Technique: The exposure was set for the setting sun, with the rhino brightened later during post‑processing.

Shadow Play

I managed to get myself into position just in time in Etosha to capture the giraffe like this. The original image was already quite dark, and you could still make out the giraffe’s contours. But I chose to darken it even further because it felt more intriguing that way.

This photograph also inspired the design of my name logo.
